Josey to Re-connect and Re-engage 4th Councilmanic District

Combined Communities Advocacy Council of Greater Randallstown Hosts Candidates Forum

When I reflect upon the obvious signs of neglect in our District, from vacant stores, obsolete malls and  failing schools to that commercial hodge podge known as Liberty Road, it is clear to me that we must re-tool for the tasks that lie ahead. We must re-connect with each other and re-engage the community. In some instances we’re going to have to change the way we think.

We simply cannot continue to point fingers and say our schools suffer because parents don’t get involved. It’s not the teacher’s fault and let it go at that. This is the 21st century and I’m driven by the passion of how we can make things better.

The future of our district,  county,  state, nation and world depends upon what we do at this juncture. Please do not let this moment in history pass us by.

At least two schools in our district – Deer Park Middle and Old Court Middle – must  be re-constituted by the state. This work is too important to leave to others. Parents must re-connect to schools and become engaged in the process of turning those failing schools around so they not only meet standards but set standards.

In some instances we may have to help parents reach out to and remain connected to the school community. But we can only help out in this way IF we are first connected and engaged, committed to the work of becoming the Premiere District we are destined to be.

We have worked hard and it shows in our education,  income, nice houses, cars, occupations and businesses. We work hard to provide a middle class life style. We pay substantial taxes and are entitled to better services from county government, services that work for us. (More)
